Top Ten Tuesday (3)

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Every week they have a different theme for bloggers to post their top tens about, and this week we’re listing our…

Top Ten Books I HAD To Buy...But Are Still Sitting On My Shelf Unread

So...I've been called a book hoarder be
cause I buy books at way faster rate than I read them, which means I have FOUR SHELVES of unread books. It's a problem. I'm like one of those people on the show Hoarders, but less gross cause books are AMAZING. (IN DENIAL AM I)

BTW ALL THE BOOKS BELOW ARE HARDCOVERS/NEW aka I pre-ordered, jumped the gun on most of them.

1. Days of Blood and Starlight by Laini Taylor
Days of Blood & Starlight (Daughter of Smoke and Bone, #2)
I'm dumb. I haven't read this. I like to say that I haven't read it yet cause once I DO it WILL BE OVER. Also, I pre-ordered this, so this has been on my shelf since November.

2. Seraphina by Rachel Hartman
Seraphina (Seraphina, #1)
 Whatever, I wanted it.

3. The Crown of Embers by Rae Carson
The Crown of Embers (Fire and Thorns, #2)
::sigh:: I have no regrets.

4. Froi of the Exiles by Melina Marchetta
Froi of the Exiles (Lumatere Chronicles, #2)
I bought this book RIGHT when it came out and then carried it on the plane with me (BTW THE HARDCOVER OF THIS BOOK IS HUGE). Still haven't read it... I like to think I haven't b/c Quintana of Charyn hasn't come out...so I don't want to put myself through the pain of finishing a book and not having the final one.

5. Mirror Sword and Shadow Prince by Noriko Ogiwara
Mirror Sword and Shadow Prince (Tales of the Magatama, #2)
Nothing could have stopped me from having this book. Like, nothing. Ogiwara might not even have wrote this book and I would have gotten it. Also, why haven't I read it?? (Falls on sword).

6. Scarlet by Marissa Meyer
Scarlet (Lunar Chronicles, #2)
Whatever. I'm reading it right now.

7. Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi
Unravel Me (Shatter Me, #2)

8. Prodigy by Marie Lu
Prodigy (Legend, #2)

9. Poison Princess by Kresley Cole
Poison Princess (The Arcana Chronicles, #1)
I love her paranormal romances, so...

10. Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare
Clockwork Prince (The Infernal Devices, #2)
I know, I know. I'm a super un-legit YA blogger. But, now that the final book, Clockwork Princess, in the trilogy comes out TODAY, I'll for sure be reading this very soon.

  1. Perhaps it is just all about delayed gratification. I am interested in Marchetta as an author. I've seen her books all over the place lately.

    1. Marchetta is amazing b/c she plots really well, but also has the most lyrical writing and authentic dialogue.

  2. I didn't put Froi of the Exiles on my list, but should have, especially since Quintana of Charyn is due to drop soon. I got an arc of #3, but gave it to my sister to read since I've yet to get to Froi.

Blood and Starlight is so-o good! I loved it and Seraphina as well.

  4. LOL - A friend of mine told me I'm like a crazy cat lady, just with books! In my defense, most of them are review books, but I still buy quite a lot and don't always get them read right away. I just need more time in the day! That's not too much to ask, is it?

  5. It's not about the reading, it's about the having. At least it is for me. And I had to laugh at myself because you have four shelves of unread books. Half the books in my library are unread, two thin book cases in my niece's room (that's almost another 60 books), four stacks of books on my nightstand, books crammed in the cabinet of my nightstand, about 6 stacks of books next to my dresser and that doesn't even include the books in the attic that are unread but I just can't bear to part with. Now I do have a lot of advance reading copies picked up at BEA and NY Comicon this past year, but I can't blame the majority on that. My problem is that if I pick up a book by the author and like it, I pick up everything and just never get around to it.

Now do you feel better about your unread books?

  6. Unravel Me is really good :) And Prodigy is just genius! Seraphina has a beautiful world-building, and I really enjoyed it!

  7. I have Unravel Me and Prodigy on my TBR shelf. I LOVED the first book in both series, but for some reason can't bring myself to read the next one. You should read Blood and Starlight right now. It took me a min to get back into it, but it was so worth it. Great book!
